My horse has no shoes in the winter
however she gets this ice build up around the
inside edge of her hooves. <snip>  I was
wondering if any one knows how to get
rid of the ice so shes not beeing ridden on stilts!

A former barn goddess told me that it became much easier to knock the snowballs out of my gelding's shod feet after I began putting venice turpentine on his soles.  And I found that, when we were working in the snow, the snowballs would just fly off his feet.

Of course, if you don't keep the venice turpentine in a heated place, it will be next to impossible to paint it on your horse's soles.  <BG>
