[RC] Getting to the AERC Convention in Chattanooga in March - Michael Maul

The AERC Convention is Friday and Saturday March 14th and 15th in Chattanooga.

While it's not easy to get there by air unless you live close enough that
there's a local flight - there are reasonable ways to get to the convention by air.

The nearby cities of Nashville and Atlanta have excellent air service and
there's a 2 hour ground shuttle service to Chattanooga with some beautiful
scenery. The shuttle service goes every 2 hours and the schedule is:

    Departure times are (From Atlanta) 8 AM, 10, 12, 2PM 4, 6, 8, 10
    >From Chattanooga to Atlanta: 5 AM, 7, 9, 11:30, 1:30, 3:30, 5:30

Leaving Nashville to go to Chattanooga:
    7:15 AM 9:15 AM 11:45 AM 2:15 PM 4:30 PM 6:45 PM 9:30 PM
    Chattanooga towards Nashville
    5:30 AM, 7:30 AM, 10 AM, 12 noon, 2 PM, 4 PM, 6:30 PM

Round trip is $59 on the shuttle. http://www.TheExpressShuttle.com/theexp00.cgi

You would be likely be flying on Thursday and returning on Sunday which
are Promotional Mon/Thu/Fri/Sun days for Southwest. Southwest only flies
    to Nashville - not Atlanta.

I was able to get a $275 RT fare from Los Angeles to Nashville on Southwest.

    http://www.southwest.com/cgi-bin/buildItinerary2

You should check the fares regularly to see when Internet specials occur.

Orbitz is the best way to find all other airline flights to Nashville and Atlanta.

    http://www.orbitz.com/

or the full search option at

    http://www.orbitz.com/App/ValidateFlightSearch

A sample flight from Reno to Atlanta on Thursday returning on Sunday is $341
on United/Delta and a one stop flight is $359. American has one stop flights to Nashville
from Reno for $359 as well. You need to allow time to connect to the shuttle and the
    2 hour trip as well.

Oakland, Ca to Atlanta is $249 with one stop and Oakland to Nashville is $280

So start looking now for specials.

We will post some reasonable hotel rates for near the convention site soon as well.
The Marriott is where the convention is held but there are likely better rates
    in nearby hotels.

So you can make it to the convention reasonably even if you are coming from the West.

There is more info on the Convention web page at

    http://www.aerc.org/2003Convention/2003convention.html

The complete schedule and abstracts for the seminars are available there now.
