We have been high-lining for years with no injuries. One thing to use to
avoid sagging lines is the bicycle inner tube. We use a couple of tubes
around the tree and then tie the rope on to the tubes using a quick release
snap. Not only does this allow you to tighten the line as much as you want
but also allows the horse to be tied shorter and as there is a stretchy
thing on either end of the line, they can eat, lie down, roll, etc. without
their shank becoming slack. And it saves the trees too!
