I, for one, am amongst the crowd who will not use
electric pens again. ?Last year a horse panicked and broke out of it’s
PVC pipe corral (another thing I would never use) and bolted up behind Billy
and Cabby, who then bolted out of their electric tape corrals, carrying the
tape with them beyond several rigs (and almost running over the top of us in
our tents. ?We now have a big old RV to stay in.) ?They took off and ended up
in the hills of central Oregon for 4 ½ days before they
were found.? It was Billy’s first night ever away from home and, for all
he knew, ridecamp was a very evil, scary place! ?Took us a while just to get
him out of complete panic mode at the sight of a ridecamp.? (He has done well
and has now completed about 15 rides since then...and is very calm now and
absolutely *loves* his job.) ?
We now have telescoping panels that are bolted to
the side of the horse trailer.? They are sturdy, can’t be moved, and the
drop-down legs can be anchored to the ground no matter how uneven the ground is.?
We are sleeping very well now knowing that the horses will be there in the
morning.? I *never* want to ever have to try find a couple lost horses again!!
