    I moved from up north to S.Carolina and my horses have the same problem, Sand gnats down here. After 4 yrs. of trial & error and Prednisone injections I have found that a combination of ground flax seed (Horse-tech.com) Nutra-flax, great product!!! great price; Brewers yeast (Get thru Jeffers catalog, $25 for 15 lbs)and Equi-trol feed thru fly control (keeps horses from welting up) is the BEST way to battle the mane rubbing, tail rubbing, bald spots, etc.

    My horses have just completed their first summer here without any bald spots or welts. Their coats are gleaming and they are happy most of all.

    PS- the Flax Seed also seems to help their attitude!
