[RC] Horses killing each other - Laura Hayes

We too have done postmortems and found the same lesions - once in a young
horse who was near starvation and his pasture buddy was more dominate in the
fight for the single bale tossed over the fence every couple days. I spent
time to try and educate the owners, discussing the fact that maybe they
should not have any more horses, and by spring they had acquired three more-
all sliding down into starvation. I removed them and pressed charges. They
were convicted based on the body scores of the four removed, and the
condition of the one who died earlier.
BTW, Quentin's story was serious. I guess I don't understand what others
thought was so funny.
