Re: [RC] RO/Relevance - Heidi Smith

How can one "do" anything relevant with the information unless one collects the information first?  The relevance of it all is to try to understand under what conditions we see increases in lameness, under what conditions we see increases in metabolic problems, and perhaps address how to better recognize those problems and how to prevent them.  The pull code information was originally intended as part of a more complete data gathering at rides, and I hope that at some point, the rest of the data collection is implemented as well.  Judging by the confusion over something as simple as pull codes, I wonder if it will ever be accomplished.

    Why?
What does it matter why a rider RO's out of a ride?
When someone says we want to "know" why someone, whose horse was deemed "fit to continue" pulls from a given ride...what does it matter "why" a rider chooses to RO?
UNLESS, the AERC, as an organization does something "relevant" with the information, other than put out a report relating the pull information which could then be used to "educate" the endurance riders out there.
