Re: [RC] From the Chronicle of the Horse BB/WEG charges - Jim Holland
Hmmm...and somebody is misinformed....would be nice if the the
capitalized area were true...This is a part of a post on Horse and
Hound" thread.
"Part of the problem with the endurance phase at the WEG was the number
of vet gates, ie checks and holds, AERC HAS A MANDATORY NUMBER FOR
EACH MILEAGE AND THEY TEND TO BE ON THE CONSERVATIVE SIDE" I can
understand how people could draw similarities between eventing and
endurance, but I don't really see how this will effect eventing because
of their differences. The distance travelled is a huge difference, and
very often times hard to monitor unlike eventing where people/jump
judges can alert officials to a tiring horse. From what I have seen in
endurance, the majority of the riders--and I commend the US WEG team for
this--ride with their horse's safety in mind. Unfortunately for these
horses, their riders rode for the win/placement from what the reports
seem to say and they should be held accountable, and in the future more
vet checks should be implemented."
