Red was trotting, dropped his head a couple times as if to stretch his back
Yeah, could'a been. My best endurance horse, with a background in Dressage, knew that when we were "on the buckle", whether at the walk or a easy working trot, that stretching his back by lowering his head and lifting his back was certainly welcomed.
During trot-outs, in-hand, he would lower his head and trot easily and relaxed...not flashy, and not very impressive...some would think he was tired as he lowered his head. We'd trained him to lift his back and stretch from the poll back to his sacro-lumbar whenever he got the chance.
But, squeezed up and moving forward on the bit....
