Well, let me come to the defense of the FL trail riding groups.  Most, if not all, of our trail riding clubs really tow the line.  They have good relationships with land managers and are the first to organize trail maintenance.  There are bad apples in any group.  I have organized many day rides for the pleasure riders and distance training rides, it is hard to know how many will show up and if a permit will be needed.  As an example, in an effort to create awareness of a new forest, I organized a trail ride, not having a clue how many people would show up, forestry was aware of our ride.  That morning 95 riders showed up! It was stream of trailers coming into a remote area, I did not see them, but I think the hiking group pretty much gave it up and went home. No one saw that one coming!

Lets not dissect ourselves. We need to align with the pleasure riders, United We Stand!  I would hate to see it get to a point where we have to have reservations for groups of 4 or more.
