Re: [RC] West Nile Update (long) - Maggie Mieske
Excellent post, Trish. I think Fort Dodge is making some biiiiig bucks and
not just on WNV vaccines. I have started doing a 3 year vaccination program
myself on all the horses and the ones that are in heavy competition get a
yearly booster for rhino, flu and equine encephalitis. Our horses are
healthy and happy. My sister in law says if she is ever reincarnated as a
horse, she wants to be a horse at my house....I think she's nuts because my
horses are out 24/7 and they don't have the fans in a stall, heck they don't
HAVE a stall but they eat well, get to travel a lot and make new friends and
see lots of trails and get massages and liniment rubs and blankets when they
need them and delicious treats that I sometimes bake for them myself!. My
decision on how I vaccinate (or don't vaccinate ) my horses IS an educated
one (from talking with vets, reading books, articles, etc. and gleaning
experiences from others). My dogs only get their shots every 3 years, too.
I haven't had any sick animals from anything that a vaccine might prevent.
Maggie
