Gosh, a voice of common sense!! My husband has been saying this for YEARS!
For many
summers he got groups of kids to come out to a local park and lake, and play
fun games like
capture the flag, ditch-um and made-up games. AFterward, they all swam. No
organized teams,
no little-league parents, etc.
I would much prefer to see my young kids make up games and play (use
imagination), than
have parents screaming at them and organized game rules, and pressure to
win.
I still maintain, a 3-5 year old child should be exploring a variety of
interests, and has no perspective
to know that they HAVE to do competitive endurance!
