young riders should continue to be allowed in endurance, i am now 14 and riding competativally as an adult - i started endurance at age 8 and never suffered any complications. i have been riding since age 2 and training rides with my mother by age 4. i rode my first of many hundreds at age 9 and never rode a limited distance, however i have hundreds of hours in training rides logged in and many of them 25 miles or more. if the aerc or began to limit the parents choice of allowing their child to participate in enduranceit would quickly become a very contaverial issue. i am not saying that i support it when i see a junior riding without a helmet, riding boots, or on a horse they are not able to control. however i believe that should be the parent responsibility.
