Oh, Good Grief!!!!!!  (Folks, please forgive my writing another post
after I said I would not, but this .....)

I avoided the "Cliffy" controversy when it flared on Ridecamp a while
back, because I knew it would get nasty (as it did), and I didn't want
to just "vent" with no solution.  I "jumped in" now after some
discussion of this issue on another list, when I realized it is too
important for me to sit on the sidelines, I need to do what I can to
bring about positive change.  I knew I'd be on the receiving end of
some nasty attacks and insults; I wasn't wrong about that!  Several
people have written me privately telling me they agree with my
position, but won't say so on the list because they don't want to be
attacked.

It's sad that people have to defend the status quo by attacking those
working for change.
