[RC] Weird horse backs . . - Karen J. Zelinsky
Hey everyone,
Just back from doing horses at the Penn National hunter/jumper show in
Harrisburg, PA (really big show), and saw something for the first time
where the saddlebreds are stalled: a beautiful chestnut saddlebred was
cross-tied in a tack stall - with a groom working away. This horse had a
back that was so sway, that it would shock anyone! I mean so sway that
from just behind the withers back, it looked about like the letter "C"!!
I am guessing, but it dropped approximately a foot, then came right back
up to normal hip height. I asked the groom, and she said something like,
"Oh, it's called a low back, and it actually helps the desired action
(yeah, I bet it does!)>" She said that the horse was 5 years old and born
with it and had been won a World Championship or two already. Hmmm....
guess what? The horse in the very next stall had exactly the same back.
Sounds like breeding German Shepards with the horrific lowered hind end,
eh?
Any of you heard of THIS one?
