Spelling, spelling, spelling - it has a lot to do with meaning... please
correct ME if I am wrong -- there are two completely different words with
dififerent meanings:
I have a feeling that your subject is not "carob products" but carbo
products.
From my days on the Lo Carb lists I've been
told:
Bodybuilders avoid carbs to avoid fat. Fat
keeps their muscles from having good definition.
I'm told by Ray Audette (Author of NeanderThin)
that the more successful marathon runners have a high fat and protein dinner
the night before. Fats and proteins take longer to digest so you end up
with energy for a longer period. Also, it avoids the spiking of blood
glucose levels and resultant insulin spike and blood sugar
crash.
Finally, in Humans endurance events (like "I
walked across the South Pole pulling a sled by myself") the diet is extremely
high fat. (This last part came in an interview on Fresh Air with Terri
Gross). I forget the guy's name, but to prepare for his walks, he ate
several pounds of fat a day. (It actually sounded kind of
gross).

Subject: [RC] carob products
There are a lot of different theories out there.
Read everything you can and make your own decision based on what you and
your horse need.
I gave some serious thought to the fat/carbo thing and
here is my opinion and it is just that. When weight lifters want to
put on muscle they eat higher than normal protein/fat diets. When
marathon runners eat the night before a race and during a race they eat
carbs. It has been working for them for a long time. There is
lots of research there. We do not have the research just some one or
two rat studies not in controlled situations. I feed my horses for
what I am doing with them at that particular point in their
career.
