Yes, Jon
Gene Lacroix has once again reared his ugly head and decided on a new
million dollar making scam now that he ruined the Arabian horse
business---- almost single-handedly! I had some correspondence from an
associate of his who wanted me to breed Halynov as a Dutch Harness Horse
approved sire for his new registry. Do I want to get involved with Gene???
Uhhhhh-----no.............!!!!!
It was my understanding that he was outcrossing Arabians to hackneys as
well and was going to promote them in special classes, much like the
National Show Horse, but my impression was that it was to be
separate---- something that Gene could control no doubt.
It is such a pity because Gene is probably one of the most gifted
trainers/riders so far as saddleseat--- his dressage background really
shows through and he has the ability to really read his horses----
however, the ethics have been lacking and the jacked up prices at his
auctions and show fixes of Regional and NAtional Championships were the
demise of the industry when Arabian Horse Express blew the whistle---
that coupled with the tax shelters removed due to all the hype.
Oh well, I guess you can tell someone pushed my button with this. And
you think there is cruelty in the endurance arena-- you ain't seen
nothing until you hear first-hand about a yearling shocked with a cattle
prod while standing in water to give him the "look" in the halter class
the next morning---- the stakes were VERY big!!! Geez, kind of like what
is happening with the purses in endurance now overseas.
I hope all learned a lesson. Eventually the caca hits the fan!
