[RC] Horse blankets? - Heather Saunders
You all have been a great source of information, so I'm hoping you can help me out.
I'm trying to find a winter blanket that is waterproof, breathable and not insulated for warmth that doesn't have a 41" drop to it.
The only blankets that are waterproof seem to be turn out sheets, and I'm finding that these winter turn out sheets are made for warmbloods or at least large Tbreds and not short arabs!
My horse looks like Columbo in one of these! he's sure to get caught up in it if he goes to scratch his stomach with one of his hind feet.
My Anglo-arab will be pulled into a stall/paddock for the winter to let the pasture "heal". I was hoping to blanket him with something that kept him dry but didn't have any additional warmth to it so during the day he could keep it on (I don't clip him). I have a fleece liner that I can layer with for the colder days.
What I'm looking for is the fit of a regular stable blanket but with the weather beating elements of a light weight turn out.
Has anyone else run into this delema? Any ideas would be helpful.
Thanks.
Heather S.
