Malted barley has had most of the starch (and therefore energy) removed, so
not nearly as valuable as whole barley. Just replace the barley with oats
instead. The reason for using a portion of barley in the first place is
because barley provides a slightly better amino acid profile, but oats are
more digestible and provide slightly less soluble carbohydrates and a little
more fiber. In the real world, assuming you're feeding a good quality hay,
don't worry about it---25% corn and 75% oats will do you fine.
