I had meant to chime in on that as well, and have also misplaced the
original post. We've had excellent luck getting them at army surplus
stores as well. They tend to be a tad higher than the ones that can be
gotten in bulk, but when one is buying half a dozen or so to use as a
rider vs buying boxes of them to mark night trails, the slightly higher
price isn't too significant.
Some of the folks who stock endurance tack also carry them--I know Teddy
Lancaster used to (we got a whole bunch from her at the last minute at the
1997 Pan Am when our glow-sticker missed a turn and contacted us in a
panic that she was behind schedule from fixing her mistake, and would
someone please start out marking backward from camp with some more...) but
I dunno if she still does.
