[RC] The West Nile thing - Kristi Schaaf
Jennifer -
I read your 3 part post with interest, since I have a
horse who had (and survived) WNV. Since you're a
physician, I was ready for some really valuable
medical information. But (and please correct me if I'm
way off base) my impression of your post was that it
was mostly just an ad for Dynamite products and even
had a little religion thrown in. Your stats are quite
old - there are not 645 cases of WNV in horses in the
US, there are currently over 10,000. I am not a big
vaccine fan, in general, and I realize that the WNV
vaccine isn't 100% effective. But I personally know
way too many people who have lost horses to WNV, and
the majority of them did not vaccinate their horses,
or they only gave one shot. When you tell people to
not buy into the WNV propaganda, I fear that you may
give them a false sense of security in not
vaccinating. Just my 2 cents... Kristi
