Ridecamp: Re: [RC] helmets

Same here, got a Tipperary when I was manning our local Endurance Club booth at Spruce Meadows couple of weeks ago.  Found them in a corner of booth next door, tried it on and wow, 3 of us bought them on the spot. 

Used it at a competition at Coutts, Alberta/ Sweetgrass, Montana (Canadian/USA Boarder) last week and actually forgot I had it on! 

I always had an itchy head with my old Troxel and found I was always yanking it off ASAP or trying to scratch by rubbing a quickly grabbed branch in the vents.  This got some looks. Heard others complained of this itch problem or having a high tree branch get stuck in the vents.  Because the Tipperary has the screened mess on the vents it should help to block them.

I know the debate is a bit heated, but for those who are looking for a new helmet, or people looking to try one for the first time, may I cast a vote for the new Tipperary?

 

I was hanging around the store today and nonchalantly tried one on (I have 2 already; 1yr. old International, and a 6-7 yr. old Troxel).

 

Wow, this Tipperary is extremely comfy. Absolutely the best fit I've ever found in a helmet.

 

The outer shell is shaped a little different (cool black and silver color). One feature I really like is the air vents are screened in mesh. Leather trim on the harness and back of shell, cute little logo on the front over the brim. Leather piece on chinstrap (velcro). Really well-padded under the shell/foam.

 

I don't need another helmet right now, but I probably will be picking up one of these.

Can't get over how comfortable this one is...
