Re: Re:Re: [RC] barefoot endurance - Maggie Mieske
I am assuming (though I may be incorrect) that you are directing this post
to me?
I certainly believe I AM educated enough to comment on this topic as most of
my education on the subject comes from my husband who has over 30 years
experience as a farrier and I have spent the last several years as his
personal servant on his rounds.
You said
<Shoes cause
lamenesses over time that in many cases cripple a horse permanently>
My correction is "BAD shoeing practices can cause lamenesses over time,
etc." Neither my farrier husband or myself would refute that.
I have read the Strasser research. I don't buy it. Neither does my
husband. My prerogative as it is yours that you do.
I don't think we need to make it personal....you know, the "you say tomato,
I say tomatoe" kind of thing. I prefer to agree to disagree than get into a
verbal war about who knows what or who can prove what. MY POINT IS AND
ALWAYS SHALL BE THAT WHATEVER WE DO FOR OUR HORSES SHOULD BE IN THEIR BEST
INTERESTS, whether it is trimming/shoeing/feeding/riding/training, etc.
Every horse is an individual...some will be better off with shoes, some will
be better off without.
Maggie
