Yep, it's a good deal all right. I'm also a lifetime member of the
American Radio Relay League (the Ham Radio outfit), even though I have
not been "on the air" in years. I still get the magazine every month,
though.
For those who don't know about the Lifetime Memberships: at the time
of the AERC's first financial crisis, 20 years ago, the AERC sold a
limited number of Lifetime Memberships. The rate was ten times the
annual dues at that time. It kept the AERC solvent.
I just had an interesting thought. I'm the one who's the most worked
up about non-member fees, when financially they don't affect me at
all, either way. I don't pay the non-member fee, and I don't pay
annual dues either.
But then, I'm not "worked up" over ten bucks here or there. It is the
fairness issue that gets to me.
