The way I read the rule is NOT that you can ride in ANY weight division you want. You can ride in a LIGHTER weight division, but NOT a heavier one. For Example, a person who is really in the middle weight division can ride in the middle, light or feather weight division. But that same person could not compete in the heavyweight division. This makes sense to me. If a heavyweight person wants to compete with featherweights, let them. The featherweights will have the advantage. I also understand the rule to read- what ever weight division you "register" with at the beginning of the AERC season on Dec 1, that is the weight division you are to use all season. OK- now In the beginning of this season I was well into the lightweight division. And I registered in Lightweight. I have lost 20 pounds and am now about 5 pounds into the feather weight division. So on my next ride do I have to add weight to my saddle etc.. to get back up to light weight? Next season I will just go featherweight and I won't have to worry about it. You can't ride lightweight if you are middleweight but you can ride heavyweight. I have never figured out the logic but there it is.......mb
