Wendy -
I had to chuckle at your response - Oh I did not mean to imply that I'm
teaching people to "ride without horses", but rather that I'm "teaching
people to ride" without horses! (If that makes any more sense at all!)
Even when I'm trying to be clear, I still mess up, don't I?
The intent of this workshop is to provide riders with inspiration and
information to improve the riding they are able to do with their own
horses. I've designed it to be presented in the relative warmth and
comfort of a hotel conference room, rather than outdoors (in upstate New
York in March).
In effect, I'll be presenting a 3-hour riding clinic without the use of
a live horse. In the summer riding program which I administer, we
frequently have to call off or modify our schedule of mounted work to
accommodate inclement weather. As a consequence, we've come up with a
few activities to enhance the mounted lessons. I'm building on these,
concluding with a segment for which participants can bring pictures of
themselves on their own horses (or other riders/horses) for discussion
and analysis in view of the material that has already been covered.
