[RC] IntNewsGroup: Jerez WEG Endurance Postride Report - Rides 2 Far
But - don't forget that we also have our
> problems - seven? ride related horse deaths this year in the US?
I checked the 2001 yearbook. There were 778 rides, 19,864 starters,
757,910 miles . If 2002 has at least that many, and you figure the
percentage of those numbers that 7 fatalities make up...(and I know at
least one of them fell off the mountain, it didn't die of exhausted horse
syndrome) and if you factor into that how many rookies were in those
rides, I think AERC's stats considerably better. Not to say we shouldn't
shoot for 0 fatalities, I still think we're doing a darned good job.
In comparison to the WEG, from what I understand, the ROC had two
fatalities in 14 years.
