I had a short bed truck (6') when I bought my first gooseneck trailer. We
bought a Sundowner because it has a pointy front. If you put the hitch
where it's supposed to go in the bed (slightly in front of the rear axle)
then a flat front gooseneck will hit the truck cab on sharp turns. With the
Sundowner we could make a very sharp circle and still not interfere.
When I bought a new truck I bought a long bed, but mostly because I wanted
the extra room in the bed for stuff.
