You've gotten some good advice... something elks to check is how this bit
fits his mouth.
The roof of some horses mouths are shallow. If his is, any kind of a jointed
snaffle or curb may be uncomfortable for him. To check, get him comfortable
with having your hand in his mouth; washing them with apple juice and giving
him gum massages help. Then bit him up and place a finger in his mouth while
you work the bit... see what it does...
I had a mare with a very shallow mouth and a mullein mouth Pelham worked
great. It's an unjointed snaffle - a bar - with a short shank.
