My horses are almost all seasoned drill team
horses. At one time, we had an all sidesaddle mounted drill team. We did parades
and demonstrations all over southern Ohio. We were in the Kentucky Derby Pegasus
Parade four times, George Senior's inaugural parade, Red White and Boom in
Columbus, and too many little street festivals to count.
It helps them to learn to listen to you, be more
responsive to directions, not to mention nearly bomb-proof, and more sure-footed
on pavement. And the sight of flowing skirts helps prepare them for flapping
raincoats!
My horses have had to stand quietly while
helicopters took off just a few feet away. They have had to perform their street
drill while children threw those #&*% poppers at their feet.
Maggie Pritchard--many years of glittered hooves
and sequined hats
Ol' Bubba--I miss everyone looking at
me
Foxy--but I always got to carry the cutest littlest
girls
Lilly--but the crowd just loves a dancing white
arabian
