According to all indications if the case is caught early or is mild they
will fully recover in a short time. My daughter suffered from a case of
encephalitis many moons ago when her mother lived in Alaska. She
recovered fine and there are no signs of any residual lunacy - that
can't be attributed to her mother's side of the family :-).
