Re: [RC] [Guest] Sheikh Mohammed - Truman Prevatt
The history of athletic endeavors are filled with could've, should've, almost
and what if. That's why we run the races, play the games, etc., and may the
better man (or woman) win. But it sure would have been exciting to have seen
a stretch run at the WEG. I think it is very that the UAE has a good endurance
program as do the French and Italians.
The question is could we (the US) learn something from these programs?

If I'm not mistaken the great TB Affirmed was ridden to a Triple Crown
by a 17 year old boy. As endurance matures on the international level,
it will probably evolve into a "young person's (man and woman) game."
We old fogies may not like to admit it but with youth comes faster reflexes,
better agility, better balance, more quickness, more strength, more speed,
etc. As the envelope is pushed and the horses get better "jockeys" are
going to get better and most likely younger.
That was a pretty awesome time for that course which I under stand was
slick, unpredictable and unforgiving. Could the reflexes, agility and
balance of a 16 year old boy have been the difference between victory
and a pull?
Whatever the case my hat goes off to him, he rode one hell of a ride.

for the coveted turtle award :-) )
