[RC] [RC] trailer preferences: stock or 'horse' trailer - Deanna German
Look for something called a "stock combo". It's designed for horses
specifically, not any ol' livestock.
I started my trailer hunt in the spring with not much money to spend. The
regular trailers I looked at in my price range ($3 - $5000) were old and
heavy. At first I wasn't looking at stock trailers, thinking I'd have to
make too many compromises for hauling horses.
My 2H slant, stock combo (purchased used) has a lockable dressing room with
saddle racks and tack hooks, a side access door (sort of like an escape
door, but large enough to put a bale of hay through) and is much lighter in
weight than a regular horse trailer. My F-150 hardly knows it's there. I
like it a lot!

Thinking deep thoughts about trailers (all I can do right now,
since I have no $$ in hand... sigh): right now I am leading
toward a stock trailer. Seems to me they offer a little more
flexibility (can use to haul other stuff more easily and
ALOT more ventilation. Heat concerns me (espec. after this
summer), so I'd assume a stock trailer would be cooler, given
the greater ventilation.
What are the pros/cons of a stock trailer vs a 2 horse?
also, anyone here any had any eperience with horse vans?
