I just bought my first sport saddle, used from Becky Siler. (I like it Becky!) But when I first took it out of the box it looked huge, and I thought it was only supposed to be a 14.5". How do you measure Sport Saddles, anyway??? But it didn't feel big when I got on it, especially on my dippy-backed gelding. The saddle bends to his back and feels much smaller on him. At first it felt strange to have the stirrups hung so low down on the saddle, but I quickly got used to it. I changed the stock stirrup leathers to dog collars and that's much more comfortable. It is by far the most comfortable saddle I've ever ridden in, and my horses really seem to like it too. I have even sweat patterns at last! I have a Skito pad on order from Lori's Tack. She had to lowest prices, plus she was very helpful. My stirrups are in standard position. If I ordered a new one I'd have them set back an inch or more, but they're really
not bad at all so far. I haven't done any long rides yet though. I've been curious about SS for a long time, and now I'm really glad I scraped the money up for one. And someone please let me know exactly where you measure the saddle.
