My one and only endurance ride for the year - but
my son is letting me ride now, so watch out for next year! The trail was
beautiful, as always, and Becke Grams was gracious in allowing me to vet in this
morning. I know what an inconvenience it is for the managers, but I was
there by 6:15 and only left a few minutes late (start time was 7:00 am).
What a thrill to be out on trail again! My
gelding was much better behaved than I had a right to expect, and we finished
(tailenders) in 4 hours, 41 minutes, and I was so happy we finished sound.
We haven't done that much riding, and Rev was barefoot (no rocks in
Michigan!) Best of all, our CRIs were 14/14 and 15/14 at the end, so
I wasn't pushing him. It is so nice to have a vet tell you "Good job" when
you aren't first across the line, but have ridden to your horse's level.
Thanks Steve (and Larry, who watched me trot out at the 1/2 way vet
check).
Thanks also to my husband, Mike, who played pit
crew when his time wasn't monopolized by our three year old,
Mitchell. Thanks to Mitchy, who only fussed once, just a
little, waiting for me to get back to the trailer.
And everyone else can be jealous, because Mike made
me a lasagne dinner when I got home! What a guy!
