And to be even more specific, only a slight rise is more indicative of a
viral infection than a big rise would be.  (Some viruses actually cause a
decrease in WBC's.)  So that finding was also consistent with a
presumptive diagnosis of WNV or something similar, while one controls the
symptoms awaiting confirmation of the actual diagnosis...
