[RC] maping, marking and GPS - Charles
I've been reading a bit about the fun and frustration of trail marking.
I've got several ideas and questions.
1) Are maps of the trails provided? I tried orienteering years ago, and
they provided a map for us to use. Turns out the Orienteering group had
cartographers and cartographers friends who would go out and make maps or
update old maps. I suspect the govt may already have mapped out their parks
so it may not require more than updating and marking trails.
2) Is there a standard marking system?
3) Does anyone use GPS? IF so, would it be a good idea to give the GPS
reading for each turn in the trail? Or, is GPS just one thing too much to
have to carry?
Sorry for my ignorance, but the thoughts have been nagging me all day so
far.
Charles
