[RC] How big is your endurance horse? - tam319

Hey guys,
Thanks so much for all of the replies! You guys are awesome! I have a 12 year
old Arab x QH gelding that I have jumped and evented with in the past. He is
15.1 hh and I am 5'11". He is often one of the smaller horses at such events
and people give me a hard time about looking like a 'bear riding a bicyle" as
my legs hang below his belly. But I feel we are a great combination, and I have
been riding him for 9 years without a problem. He is all heart and well built
and riding him feels 'right' to me. I have recently been looking for a young
prospect, and of course, thinking I had to buy something BIG. Many of the
young, big prospects out there are so clunky with ugly, unrefined heads. I was
starting to lose hope.
So when I saw this Arab mare I instantly fell in love. She's EXACTLY what I
want in a horse, but shorter than I was looking for. I'm glad to hear from all
of you that 15 hh is not bad at all. I guess when you hang out with the
jumper/eventer/dressage crowds the motto "bigger is better" gets drilled into
your mind, even though now I see it is not true. I'm very excited to start
endurance riding with renewed enthusiasm now that I see bigger isn't always
better.
Tamara
