RE: [RC] How big is your endurance horse? - Marlene Moss

    Tamara,
My husband competed for a year in CTR on a 14.1 mustang and is now doing
    endurance on a 14.3 arab/saddlebred. He is 6' and weighs 220. Height
of the horse is not really the important factor. I read a really
interesting article by Deb Bennett that says that width of the loins is
what is important. I also think that not having too long a back for
higher weights is also good. But you are not heavy and 15.1 is not that
small, so I doubt the horse would have a difficult time at all.

Ultimately, if a horse is capable of carrying a certain weight, what is
most important is to condition him to carry that weight over time.

Good luck with your horse selection!

    Marlene
