I resemble this remark. :)
 
Lynne, when I got home and the adrenalin left my
system, it turns out the reason I was so out of it was
that I was feverish.  At the vet check I thought it
was dehydration and/or low blood sugar (both of which
I have problems with, but thought I was prepared for),
but apparently a fever was to blame.  Ooops.  Never
underestimate a head cold I guess.  (I spent the rest
of the weekend immobile; I was so sick hubby actually
fed the horses and did my various animal chores.)

The mare, of course, was fine.  She could have easily
finished the ride if her rider wasn't such a mess. 
And, yes, she certainly COULD hear home and buddies
calling to her.
