That lesson was brought home to me Saturday. I was expecting an easy
trail at the "urban" ride in Parker, Colorado, but I didn't get it.
It was a hot day for this time of year, and I was definitely having an
"off" day. I also didn't drink enough. Coming into the last vet
check I was having dizzy spells, with my vision washing out (like an
overexposed photograph). I wasn't even thinking about not going on,
though, until I sat down while Kat took Sanshra to the vet. Then I
crashed, I haven't felt so exhausted in a loooong time. When Kat came
back and said the vet was holding Sanshra's card and wanted to
re-check him, that was all I needed ... I immediately decided to pull.
Sanshra was fine in a few minutes (his pulse had recovered quickly and
he drank a huge amount of water on arrival at the vet check) but I
just didn't want to risk going back out on the trail in *my*
condition.
Saturday, I WAS the weakest link ... goodbye!
