My goldfish eat all of it.  That could have 
everything to do with the climate here and the type of algae we have 
here. 
  
My stepdad's place is about 15 miles from here (as 
the crow flies) and he has 1 pond with that nasty green slimy algae on the 
top.  Each winter, migrating ducks come in and clean that up.  The big 
pond doesn't have that problem so I don't know why there is a difference between 
the two.  They're not far apart and one is not shaded more than the other 
-- but there is a substatial size difference and lots of fish in the big 
one.  That may be it.
