Re: [RC] [RC] tagalong novice crew volunteer wanting advice and experience - Maggie Mieske
Charles,
There are so MANY things you can do to volunteer... timers are essential to
a well run ride. Vet writers or scribes. (Though those might take some
time, training and experience). Someone to hand out sandwiches or fetch a
cold pop. Someone to hold a horse or two for someone who needs a quick pit
stop. Someone to "fill in the blank"....I couldn't believe all the little
things I needed someone to do when I co managed the Wolverine Ride. I
forgot to send someone out to the finish line! Thank God someone in camp
remembered! :) Anyway, go to a ride, hang out, help where you feel
comfortable helping and learn... if you ever get a chance to ride along with
a pit crew, you'll be amazed at what you'll learn. Just introduce yourself,
tell people what you are hoping to accomplish by being there and someone
will take you under their wing. I guarantee it!
Maggie
