[RC] Spinal cord injury - Ridecamp Guest

    Hello to my Endurance buddies,
I was wondering if anyone out there has had experience with this diagnosis. I have had 3 opinions, one from a Veterinarian and one from an Equine Therapist ("Chiropractor"); who treated him and he improved tremendously, but temporarily; and one from a fellow, rider friend, a retired small animal Veterinarian. The Vet's diagnosed the spinal cord injury, the therapist, not.
I feel, however this happened (not sure), it happened BEFORE, Yuri ever did his first ride, which he only did two, 98' & 99' and did very well on the 50's, 13th & 5th place, and the Vet's did not seem to notice any abnormalities at that time, but i at one of the Vet checks on his first ride first noticed his "leg thing", streaching his hind legs straight out to the side, seeming to work out a "catch" in his back. Other off and on "symptoms" have been, trouble walking down steep hills; he wants to zig zag; but if he wants to really go (trot), no trouble, stumbling, a progressively wide rear stance at a trot as the miles go by; as observed by my Vet, rider, friend. He has gone down to his knees with me, when not paying attention, at a walk too. I have been torn these last few years about trying to to an endurance ride with him, maybe even a limited distance, or just continue trail riding, which he does just fine; that is when he is PAYING ATTENTION. The other factor is my safety, but i don't want to deprive him of being the best horse he can be, and also, i feel SO responsible for his condition. Him being my only horse, it is a matter of love and responsibility. ANYWAY, any opinions or experience on this out there??????????????
