I
reported on my first experience with these polyurethane shoes, primarily in the
negative. Based on Maggie and Nelson's success with them and their
clients' successes, I decided to try them a second time. We did much
better the second time around. The key does seem to be putting a nail in
first at the toe, then setting a nail on each side at the same time, then
working back to set the rest of the nails. This time the nails did not
move in the shoe and we had minimal to no hoof wall breakdown. What we did
get was significant spreading in the heels - about a 1/2" worth. Both
horses I tried these on had nice feet to begin, 55 degree angles front, no low
heels, lots of wall.
I'm
ordering more!
Thanks
Maggie for helping make these work.
