While Rae is right that this is likely a tooth bump (if it is, indeed, below
a tooth root), if it is as big as a golf ball, it should have dental
attention, as there is likely a stuck cap on that premolar. The resistance
is what causes the inflamation that causes the lump, in most cases. Mild
tooth bumps do indeed go away, but really huge ones can be permanently
disfiguring.
