Please see my longer post for details, but the short answer 
is you can send it directly to Polar's USA service center.
They have instructions on their website, www.polarusa.com.

They have a form you can use from their website, or you 
can do what I did and just send a cover letter.  Make 
sure you include your name, daytime phone number, and 
your address so they can return it!

The cost is $10 per battery, transmitter or receiver, and 
you pay shipping there and back.  I chose to send mine 
traceable / insured on FedEx ground and I included an
additional $10 so they could ship it back FedEx ground,
insured and with a tracking number.  I included a check,
but they also take credit cards.

Their turn around was very fast.  Say hello to Ken, or 
Matti (Matti is the Service Manager) and rest assured
that they will take great care of you and your HRM.
