This is for a friend whom I ride with regularly in CTR. She has a
wonderful arab gelding who is so laid back he literally falls asleep
waiting in line for pulse checks. Her horse recovers nicely, leads,
follows, drinks, eats, trots a range of sppeds, nice canter, camps well,
travels well, everything you could ask for....just a really sweet horse.
She rides him regularly and I know he is in good condition. At an event
after pulsing down to 39-40, having good gut sounds, nice cap refill, no
leg swelling or pain.........he just won't trot decently at the end of the
ride and she loses points for willingness and impulsion but has near
perfect scores on th rest. It seems to be getting even worse. Legs have
been x-rayed and ultrasounded to make sure the hands on isn't missing
anything and he moves beautifully under saddle, though he is a pokey
walker. How can she get her beast to trot out better? I have a NSH who
trots like the wind by nature so I am of no help given its just as natural
for my horse to trot as it is for hers to snooze.
Thanks...........
