With second cutting hay being non existent in the northeast
this year does anyone have any experience with haylage? The
guy I'm buying hay from also sells something he calls Haylage. He is from
England and apparently this is what everyone feeds over there to their horses
- it is what he feeds to his horses (there are probably about 10 horses all
great looking that he has there). It is $8 a bale, wet hay that is
baled and then tightly wrapped in plastic so that it totally ferments. Smells
like wine! He gave me a bale to try - says it is good for older horses
because it is softer. He says that there is no mold problem at all, I
asked at least 10 times. Anyway, I'm a little afraid to even try
it.
