Re: [RC] AERC list of permitted substances on-line - Truman Prevatt
Last week I for, God knows whatever reason, picked up a brochure of some
feed in a feed store. This was a commercial textured feed. Turns out it
has some sort of yucca extract in it. It had some reason why it was
there which had to do with digestion, but I don't remember the details.
I also don't know (nor did it say) what this yucca extract was. I am
sure if one company is using it they probably all are or will if it does
have a benefit.
If I had bought this feed, would this yucca extract tested and would I
have been in violation of the AERC drug policy? Does it make a whole
lot of sense that the AERC bands ingredients included in commercial
feeds from well established feed companies? Does this whole issue need a
revisit - after all it's been 10 years without one and time does march
on. I think so.
